ARE BIG DOGS SMARTER THAN SMALL ONES?

Recent research suggests they might be! A study at the University of Arizona analysing data from over 7,000 dogs suggests that larger breeds outperform smaller ones on measures of executive functions - in particular, bigger dogs seem to have better short-term memory and can exercise greater self control than their smaller cousins.

Brain size does not seem to be associated with all types of intelligence though.

Researchers found that the size of the brain didn't seem to correlate with tests of social intelligence nor physical reasoning ability. These results appear to reflect work already conducted studying primates.
